THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE FILMS IN 2013
36. Galaxy Quest (Parisot, 1999) - 5th FebruaryStarring: Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan RickmanSynopsis: The cast of the science fiction TV show Galaxy Quest find themselves in way over their heads when a group of real aliens mistake them for their characters, and enlist them in saving their entire race from a hostile force.Standout Character: Guy, played by Sam Rockwell.Favourite Quote: “By Grabthar’s hammer… what a savings.”Summed Up: Not as good as I was hoping it would be, but it was still a really good movie. Played on old Star Trek tropes really well, and I especially loved Sam Rockwell as the token redshirt. Enrico Colantoni’s delivery of every line was perfect. Tim Allen and Alan Rickman got loud guffaws every now and then, as did Sigourney Weaver, and btdubs, just as a side-note, she’s pretty hot in this movie. Tony Shalhoub rounds out the cast, and had a lot of great moments too. Definitely watch it if you’re a Star Trek fan, give it a go if you’re a comedy fan. If you like meta movies, this kind of fits that bill as well, so give it a whirl, why not?
Rating: 8 inside-out space pigs out of 10.
