THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE FILMS IN 2013 - 1989 WEEK
8. Say Anything… (Crowe, 1989) - 8th JanuaryStarring: John Cusack, Ione Skye, John MahoneySynopsis: Lloyd Dobler, fresh from graduating high school, falls head over heels with class valedictorian Diane Court, who’s headed off to England for a fellowship sixteen weeks later.Standout Character: Lloyd Dobler, played by John CusackFavourite Quote: "One question; are you here cause you need someone, or are you here cause you need me? …forget it, I don’t care."Summed Up: I tell you what, I wish I was as basic as Lloyd Dobler, cause that guy is one cool son of a bitch. Also, Ione Skye is a babe, where the hell did she end up going? In all seriousness, I’m pretty sure this is my favourite romantic comedy ever (that is, if you don’t count Scott Pilgrim as a rom-com). Laugh-out-loud funny at parts, sad as all hell in others. Downright depressing at one particular point. Definitely one of my new favourite 80s movies.Rating: 9 elevated boomboxes out of 10.
